Aofaine was head physio for the Galway Senior and U21 football teams during my time in charge 1998-2004.
I also appointed her physio for the Connacht football team for the interprovincial championship during my time in the post 2003-2010.
Aofaine at all times treated injured players to the highest standards and put in place supervised rehab programmes which meant they were back in training and fit to play in the earliest possible time frame. She also advised players on injury prevention methods which meant I had less players on the injury list, resulting in more success on the field. This was a crucial factor especially during peak season and played a major role in Galway’s success during my time in charge when we won 2 Senior All-Ireland’s, 4 Connacht titles and 1 under 21 All-Ireland.
Aofaine also dealt with injuries on match days and was quickly able to identify if a player was fit to continue which was invaluable advice to me as big decisions had to be made in the heat of battle. She also worked closely with our team doctor and any consultant’s or specialists who had to carry out operations. Aofaine also kept myself and the players updated on new developments in sports injuries.
I would have no hesitation in giving the highest recommendation to Aofaine Walshe who has again (Sept 2014) been appointed as team physio under newly appointed manager Kevin Walsh.
